Port Everglades continuously breaks its own world records for handling the most cruise passengers. On November 26, 2011, Port Everglades Terminal set a world record with more than 53,500 passengers passing through the cruiseport in a single day. In terms of ships, On December 21, 2003, Port Everglades set the world record for the most cruise ships in port on a single day, with 15 ships in port.

Trivia: 

In 1928, during the creation of the port, 85% of the area's residents gathered for a grand ceremony. From the White House, President Calvin Coolidge was to push a button, detonating explosives to remove a rock barrier separating the harbor from the Atlantic Ocean. The button malfunctioned. The barrier was removed shortly thereafter, and the port was born.
