Trivia:

In 1928, during the creation of the port, 85% of the area's residents gathered for a grand ceremony. From the White House, President Calvin Coolidge was to push a button, detonating explosives to remove a rock barrier separating the harbor from the Atlantic Ocean. The button malfunctioned. The barrier was removed shortly thereafter, and the port was born.
