Lahore International Airport

Where is Lahore Airport?  


Lahore is Pakistan's second largest city, and capital of the Punjab province. Founded in legendary times, Lahore is considered the country's cultural capital.


The heart of Lahore is the Walled or Inner City, a very densely populated one square kilometre area, popular with tourists.


Lahore International Airport (IATA: LHE, ICAO: OPLA), officially Lahore Allama Iqbal International Airport, also referred to as Lahore Allama Iqbal Airport, Lahore Iqbal Airport, or simply Lahore Airport, is located 15 kilometres from central Lahore, in Punjab province, Pakistan. The airport is named to honour Sir Muhammad Iqbal, commonly known as widely known as Allama Iqbal, the Islamic poet-philosopher who was a major advocate for the creation of of Pakistan.


In 2016, Lahore Airport served 4,724,694 passengers, making it the 3rd busiest airport in Pakistan, after Karachi Jinnah International Airport (KHI) and Islamabad Benazir Bhutto International Airport (ISB).


LHE Airport currently has two passenger terminals: the Allama Iqbal terminal, and the Hajj terminal. During the Hajj period, this is supplemented by use of Lahore's old Walton airport (OPLH) by national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines. There are plans to expand LHE, but no timelines have been announced.


Lahore Airport is a hub for the national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines. Other airlines that fly to Lahore Airport include Air Arabia, Air Blue, Air Indus, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, Kuwait Airways, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, Saudia, Shaheen Air, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and UTair Aviation.
