Moscow Vnukovo Airport

Where is Moscow Vnukovo Airport?

Moscow, the Russian capital, and former Soviet Union capital, is the political and financial centre of Russia. A sprawling metropolis, Moscow is set on the Moskva River, which meanders through the city, a perfect backdrop to all the Soviet-era monoliths.

The city boasts many reminders of its Soviet and imperial past, and it seems that everywhere you look in Moscow, you can see post-Soviet kitsch. Home to palaces and cathedrals, Moscow is an architecture lover's dream. Its onion-shaped domes and famous subway platforms simply can't be beat, nor can its numerous museums.

Moscow Vnukovo International Airport (IATA: VKO, ICAO: UUWW), also known was Moscow Vnukovo Airport, or simply Vnukovo Airport, is located southwest of central Moscow, in Moscow Oblast, Russia.

In 2015, Vnukovo Airport served 15,815,129 passengers, making it Moscow's 3rd busiest airport.

VKO is one of three major Moscow area airports (and is the oldest). The others are Moscow Domodedovo International Airport (DME) and Moscow Sheremetyovo International Airport (SVO). A fourth airport, Moscow Zhukovsky Ramenskoye International Airport (ZIA), opened in May 2016. Most international passengers fly via SVO or DME. All share an IATA city code: MOW.

Airlines serving Vnukovo Airport include Aeroflot, Georgian, Germanwings, Lufthansa, Red Wings, Transaero, Turkish, UTair and Virgin. Destinations served include Antalya, Barcelona, Berlin, Bratislava, Cologne, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Istanbul, Kiev, London, Paris, Riga, St. Petersburg, Stuttgart and Tel Aviv, plus many cities in Russia.

Your best bet for a Vnukovo transfer is the bus to the metro. Details on all options are included in this guide.
