While the city center is well structured with a network of interconnecting streets, it can be difficult to find your way around at times, making a map or GPS essential. Prominent arteries in downtown Dallas include Commerce Street, Elm Street, the South Central Expressway, the I-30 (East RL Thornton Freeway) and the I-45 (Julius Schepps Freeway).

Several parking garages exist in this area, although spaces are often scarce and many people prefer to travel around the downtown district by bus or taxi. It is also worth noting that regular trams run between the Arts District and the uptown area, along McKinney Avenue.
