GTN Lake Pukaki Airport Info & Guide
Where is Lake Pukaki Airport?
Lake Pukaki is an alpine lake along the northern edge of the Mackenzie Basin, on New Zealand's South Island.
The Mackenzie Basin boasts some of the world's cleanest, driest and darkest skies, and draws astronomers to observatories in Mount Cook Village and Twizel, part of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark-Sky Reserve.
Lake Pukaki Airport (IATA: GTN, ICAO: NZGT), commonly known as Glentanner Aerodrome, or Glentanner Airport, is located at the northwest end of Lake Pukaki, on South Island, New Zealand.
GTN is used as a standby airport, if the Mount Cook Airport (MON) is closed due to inclement weather.
Lake Pukaki Airport should not be confused with Pukaki Airport - Twizel (TWZ).
Other small airports serving the area include Twizel Airport (TWZ) and Mount Cook Airport (MON).
