While taxis are available, it is safer to be met by someone whom you know. Or, take a service geared to westerners (see Unofficial Taxis below).

Kabul Airport Taxi

Kabul Airport taxi photo

Kabul Airport taxi services are available outside of the Arrivals Hall. Taxis are painted yellow and are predominantly Toyota Corollas. You may arrange your cab at the Taxi & Tour Booking Office in the terminal.

A taxi from Kabul Airport into the city centre will take about 15 minutes.

It is customary for women to always sit in the back seat.

Tip: During your stay, when taking taxis in Kabul, due to security concerns, avoid catching a cab near any sensitive locations (e.g., embassies, military facilities, 5-star hotels).

Unofficial Kabul Airport Taxi Service or Hire Points

Afghan Logistics Camp & Tours cater mostly to expats and are probably the safest way to get around town. They provide 24 hour minicabs as well as airport pickups and dropoffs.

A Kabul Airport transfer with Afghan Logisitics into the city centre will cost you about USD 20.

IHateTaxis.com recommends the unofficial Kabul Airport taxi service.

If you are a westerner, it is a safer bet to go with a group that caters to expats.

 Kabul Airport Taxi Scams

Many drivers have learned basic English. Some of these drivers may try to charge a slightly higher price and are most likely to be found loitering near Westerner-friendly locations (airport, major hotels).
