PUW lies 6.4 kilometres (4 miles) of the town of Moscow, across the state border, in Idaho, and may be referred to as Moscow Idaho Airport.
Each city's university, Washington State (in Pullman) and Idaho (in Moscow) use the airport for jet charters from Frontier Airlines and Allegiant Air for their intercollegiate athletic teams.
