SZX Shenzhen Airport Info & Guide

Where is Shenzhen Airport?

A major city in Guangdong Province, China, Shenzhen is situated immediately north of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Shenzhen’s modern cityscape is the result of its vibrant economy made possible by rapid foreign investment.

The Shenzhen area was China’s first Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and remains one of the most successful.

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (IATA: SZX, ICAO: ZGSZ) formerly Shenzhen Huangtian International Airport, also referred to as Shenzhen Huangtian Airport, Shenzhen Bao'an Airport, Bao'an International Airport or simply Shenzhen Huangtian International Airport, is located in Bao'an District, near Huangtian and Fuyong villages, 32 kilometres (20 miles) northwest of Shenzhen city centre, Guangdong, China.

In 2015, Shenzhen Airport served 39,721,800 passengers, and is one of the three major airport hubs serving southern China's Pearl River Delta, alongside Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN).

SZX airport is unique in that it has direct ferry routes to Hong Kong International Airport, where passengers can transit without going through immigration and custom checks, akin to transit between two flights.

Shenzhen Airport is a hub for China Southern Airlines, Donghai Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines. Other airlines that fly to Shenzhen Airport include Air China, AirAsia, Asiana Airlines, Chengdu Airlines, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Korean Air, Kunming Airlines, Shandong Airlines, SilkAir, Thai AirAsia, Tibet Airlines and Tigerair.

Cities with flights to Shenzhen Airport include Bangkok, Beijing, Cairo, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dubai, Hangzhou, Kuala Lumpur, Kunming, Nanjing, Phuket, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei, Tianjin, Xiamen, Xi'an and Zhengzhou.
