Catania Airport (CTA) Services & Amenities

The CTA Catania Airport offers a variety of services for the disabled, which are referred to as PRM – Passengers with Reduced Mobility.

Upon arrival at CTA Catania Airport:

Passengers with reduced mobility - booked from the airline company - that arrive at CTA Catania Airport by car, are able to park in the special area, located at the principal road straight to the airport, where there are 10 places for cars dedicated to PRM for long time parking. Parking is indicated with signal: “PRM PARKING/PARCHEGGIO PRM”. At the car park, PRM special assistance will be called immediately. The passenger will be transferred directly to the terminal, with  luggage, by a shuttle with wheelchair lift.

Passengers that arrive directly at the terminal can call special need assistance by the mutlimedia call points at:

• Departure terminal

• Arrival terminal
• Taxi stop

At the terminal:

A team of dedicated staff is available to assist PRM 24 hours a day.

Passengers with special needs are welcomed by staff who assist them with baggage at the check-in and through security screening. Disabled passengers are assisted to the gate where a special bus equipped with wheelchair lifts (it is called ambulift) will be used for boarding operations for aircraft not served by bridges.

Other services within the terminal include:

• Special pathways for the visually impaired
• Wheelchairs
• Special toilets

Arriving as a passenger:

Provided the airline has been informed, aiport staff will be waiting for the travellers with special needs and will guide them through passport control, baggage claim and leaving the airport area.

Remember to inform your airline of your requirements well in advance of your scheduled departure (most airlines suggest 48 hours). It is always advisable for disabled travellers to inquire about any special requirements prior to arriving at CTA Catania Airport.
