PSP Palm Springs Airport Info & Guide

Palm Springs International Airport

Where is Palm Springs Airport? Palm Springs International Airport (IATA: PSP, ICAO: KPSP, FAA LID: PSP), or simply Palm Springs Airport, is a public airport located 3 kilometres (2 miles) east of the central business district of Palm Springs, California, United States. It serves the Inland Empire Metropolitan Area of Southern California, including the cities of La Quinta, Palm Desert, and Indio. The PSP airport covers 940 acres (380 ha) and has two runways.

Take time to enjoy the original Palm Springs Airport terminal, built in 1966, and designed by famed American architect, Donald Wexler. Featuring a tensile structured canopy, giving a sense of flight. PSP airport was originally constructed as a United States Army Air Forces airfield in 1939 on land owned by the Agua Caliente band of the Cahuilla people, before being converted in 1964 to the Palm Springs Municipal Airport. Recent enhancements include a new regional concourse.

Today many budget airlines to Palm Springs operate out of the PSP airport. The airport is highly seasonal, in that many Palm Springs flights do not operate during the summer.  Most of the seasonal flights to Palm Springs are from northern destinations for snow birds.

In 2011, PSP Airport was named one of the TOP 10 USA's "Most Stress Free Airports" by SmarterTravel.com.
