Nanaimo is located on central Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Nanaimo is nicknamed the "Bathtub Racing Capital of the World" for its famous annual evevt. Also known as "Harbour City", Nanaimo is an important hub on Vancouver Island.


Nanaimo Airport (IATA: YCD, ICAO: CYCD), officially Nanaimo Collishaw Airport, or previously Nanaimo Cassidy Airport, is located in Cassidy, 13 kilometres (8 miles) south southeast of Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.The air terminal is named in honour of World War I ace Raymond Collishaw, who was born in Nanaimo. 


Vancouver Island’s third largest airport, Nanaimo Airport serves a primary central Vancouver Island area with a total population base of approximately 250,000. The YCD Airport service area extends north from Nanaimo to Qualicum, west to the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, and south to Duncan and the Cowichan Valley, making it ideally situated as the most convenient departure/arrival point for customers from the mid-island area.


In 2015, Nanaimo Airport served 312,000 passengers. The city's seaplane traffic operates at Nanaimo Harbour Water Airport (ZNA).
