Prince Rupert is situated on British Columbia's northwest coast, and is a popular destination for sports fishing. Prince Rupert holds the title of rainiest city in Canada, with an annual rainfall more than double Vancouver's.

The port city's sheltered harbour is the deepest ice-free natural harbour in North America, and the 3rd deepest natural harbour in the world. Situated at 54° North, Prince Rupert's harbour is the northwestern most port in North America linked to the continent's railway network.

Prince Rupert Airport (IATA: YPR, ICAO: CYPR), is located on Digby Island, 9.3 kilometres (5.8 miles) west southwest of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.
