Alberta Sports Hall of Fame

Historic Fort Normandeau
Historic Fort Normandeau, a National Historic Site of Canada, features a museum that you can visit. Fort Normandeau was a settlement set up by the Canadian Militia in 1885 during the Riel Rebellion. The Fort's location was at a railway checkpoint in Alberta connecting Calgary and Edmonton. The Crossing was used by North-West Mounted Police until 1893 when it was abandoned. Today, the town of Red Deer sits on the site of the fort.
