Rio de Janeiro Galeão Airport Taxi

Rio de Janeiro Galeão Airport taxi photo

A Rio de Janeiro Airport taxi rank is situated outside the GIG Rio de Janeiro Galeão International Airport, but metered fares vary considerably and the service provided by the Rio de Janeiro State Tourism Authority is considered more reliable.

Passengers should approach the Rio de Janeiro State Tourism Authority desk in the GIG Rio de Janeiro Galeão International Airport and purchase pre-paid Rio de Janeiro Airport taxi travel vouchers. Pick-ups are then made from outside the Arrivals area.

Rio Airport Transfer, is the only company that allows customers to book and pay online prior to arriving at the airport. The advantage of this is that Brazilian Reals are not always available outside of Brazil, although the currency is becoming easier to obtain, and international credit cards do not work in all money machines or credit card machines in Brazil.

Arrive or depart stress-free at the Rio de Janeiro Galeão Airport by pre-booking your private Rio de Janeiro Galeão Airport transfer.
See our Rio de Janeiro Galeão Airport private transfer options page for more information and pricing.

Rio de Janeiro Galeão Airport Taxi Scams

Caution should be taken when using common yellow taxis as the price charged can sometimes be higher than taking a radio taxi and drivers pretend not to, or genuinely don't, understand English when customers try to dispute the charge. They will also sometimes charge extra if the air-conditioning is on, if the radio is on, if they had to take a detour, etc.
