A rental car in Honolulu is easy at the HNL Honolulu International Airport as there are many car rental companies represented. Honolulu car rental booths are located on either side of the baggage claim area at the HNL airport.


Honolulu car rental  shuttles may be caught outside the baggage claim area.


A new Consolidated Rental Car Facility (CONRAC) is under construction, and scheduled for completion in 2017. In the meantime, expect some disruptions during construction, and leave extra time.

Your local drivers' licence is required.

Many of Oahu's main tourist resorts and destinations are located close to Honolulu, on the southern side of the island. Many tourists staying in Honolulu choose to drive to Waipahu, which is situated around 14 miles / 23 kilometres to the northwest, with a journey time of approximately 20 minutes. Parking is rarely a problem in Honolulu, with many of the best resort hotels having their own parking areas and nearby garages. The main cars parks can be found along Alakea Street, Queen Street, Bishop Street and at the Fort Street Mall.
