Mexico City International Airport

Where is Mexico City Airport?

Mexico City was created by the Mexica people, later known as the Aztecs, in 1325. The old Mexica city is now referred to as Tenochtitlan.

Today an important economic and cultural centre, Mexico City boasts 150+ museums and multiple orchestras. Jack Kerouac, the American author, spent extended periods of time in the city, and wrote his masterpiece volume of poetry Mexico City Blues here.

Mexico City International Airport (IATA: MEX, ICAO: MMMX), officially Mexico City Benito Juárez International Airport, also called Benito Juárez Airport, Aeropuerto de México, Aeropuerto de la Ciudad de México, Aeropuerto Benito Juárez, or simply Mexico City Airport, is located in Venustiano Carranza borough, 15 kilometres (9 miles) from central Mexico City, Mexico City Federal District, Mexico. The airport is named to honour the 19th century Mexican president, Benito Juárez.

In 2015, Mexico City Airport served 40 million passengers, making it Mexico's and Latin America's busiest Airport.

In recent years, Toluca Licenciado Adolfo López Mateos International Airport (TLC), about an hour's drive away, has become a Mexico City's alternate airport, serving low-cost airlines, and acting as a diverter airport.

Mexico City Airport is a hub for Aeromar, Aeroméxico, Interjet and Volaris. Other airlines that fly to Mexico City Airport include Air Canada, Air France, AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Avianca, British Airways, Copa Airlines, Cubana de Aviación, Delta Air Lines, Iberia, KLM, LAN Airlines, Lufthansa, TAM Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and VivaAerobus.
