Palermo Airport (PMO) Services & Amenities

The Palermo Airport offers a variety of services for the disabled, which are referred to as PRM – Passengers with Reduced Mobility.

Upon arrival at PMO Airport:

Parking for Passengers with Reduced Mobility are available, in each parking lot. Two welcome points for disabled persons are available outside the Check in Area A.

PRM on departure may stop in the dedicated drop-off zone at the west-front-of-terminal while requesting assistance to reach the Sala Amica (the special assistance lounge in the Departures area of the terminal). In the drop-off zone passengers are allowed to stop just for the time needed to disembark their car and to unload their luggage; vehicles must be attended at all times.

Alternatively, several parking bays dedicated to Disabled Card Holders are available at the departure curb side of the Terminal.

On arriving at the terminal, departing PRM may:

• Request assistance using the dedicated call point close to the west-front-entrance adjacent to Check-in Area “A” (first floor), or
• Proceed directly to the special assistance lounge Sala Amica - in the Departure Hall (first floor)

At the terminal:

Assistance is provided free of charge to passengers who are unable to climb stairs or walk long distance, passengers who travel by wheelchair or stretcher, passengers who are visually or hearing impaired or passengers with an intellectual disability.

Arriving as a passenger:

Arriving PRM may be picked-up using the dedicated bays close (on the right side) to the Arrivals Exit at the ground floor of the Terminal. The passenger must be pre-booked (allowing the authorized car to enter the ZTL - Limited Traffic Zone) and be ready to leave the airport. Vehicles must be attended at all times.

Remember to inform your airline of your requirements well in advance of your scheduled departure (most airlines suggest 48 hours). It is always advisable for disabled travellers to inquire about any special requirements prior to arriving at PMO Palermo Airport.
