There are a few taxis available around town that can be called from the SKV St Catherine International Airport. Expect to be ripped off or a long negotiation on the fare.

Some travellers catch a taxi from Cairo to St. Catherine with the trip taking 8-9 hours one way. You then would typically stay overnight and do the hike very early in the morning for the sunrise and then head back to Cairo. The taxi driver usually just sleeps in the back of the taxi for the journey.
