Official Termini Train Station Taxi Recommendations

IHateTaxis.com has a mixed recommendation on the official Termini Train Station taxi service.

There are rarely honest taxi drivers at the Termini Train Station, and the demanded fixed fare around town is usually high. Depending on where you are going, how much luggage you have, how tired you are and how hot it is, you may still find a taxi from Termini Station the best choice.

Official Termini Train Station Taxi Rates & Fares

Termini Train Station Taxi

Once you exit the Termini Station, the official taxi stand is directly in front of you (look for the line of people or the taxis). A second official taxi stand is located to the left side of the station near the front.

Official white taxi cabs should be used at all times to ensure safety and also to lessen the likelihood of being overcharged.

Taxis are supposed to use their meters, but be aware that many do not and will try to set a flat fare at much higher than the metered rate. If drivers refuse to use the meter try to find another taxi, although it might be difficult using the official stand.

You are not alone in the rip-offs that occur at Termini and locals rarely catch taxis here due to this problem -- see the unofficial taxi section for alternatives.

Unofficial Termini Train Station Taxi Service or Hire Points

Although not really unofficial, many report better success in hiring a reasonably-priced taxi a few blocks away from Termini Station. If you are okay with your luggage, then you could consider doing a little walking first and try to hire a taxi on the street. Be aware, however, that official taxis (white cars) may not stop on the streets, especially during busy periods, and you may have to walk some distance to find a taxi stand. You still are a target for rip-offs, especially anywhere around the train station, but your chances are better at finding a taxi that is willing to use a meter or maybe a lesser rip-off fixed-fare.

IHateTaxis.com has a mixed recommendation on the unofficial Termini Train Station taxi service.

There is still a chance you will be overcharged, but less of a chance compared to in front of the Termini Train Station.

 Termini Train Station Taxi Scams

In addition to the fixed-fare scam mentioned, if your driver agrees to use the meter, it still doesn't mean that you won't be taking the long route to bump up the fare.
