Victoria Airport Public Bus Recommendations

IHateTaxis.com recommends the Victoria Airport public bus.

Although taking the Victoria airport bus means a little more waiting and walking, it will save you about CAD 50 over Victoria taxi fares and CAD 15 over shuttle fares. If you have excessive luggage or have difficultly with your luggage then consider either a taxi or the shuttle.

BC Transit offers Victoria Airport bus service via both the #83     and #88 bus routes    . The #83 route runs between the YYJ Victoria International Airport and Sidney to the north and Royal Oak to the south. The #88 runs more frequently from the Victoria Airport to both the McTavish Park & Ride and Sidney. For almost all travellers catching the bus to Victoria downtown you want to head to the Park & Ride via either the #88 or the #83 North (about 4 minutes away) and transfer to any of the 70, 71, 72, or 73 buses to head downtown (70 is an express bus). Total travel time ranges on time of day, but you can usually get downtown in about 50 minutes.

You may also catch the 83 (south) to Brentwood Bay and Royal Oak. This will still work for getting downtown, but it is a slightly longer, but more scenic route. Then transfer at Royal Oak to routes 6, 30, 31, 70, 71, 72, 73, or 75 to go downtown.

To catch the bus from the Victoria Airport, the bus stop is immediately out the Arrivals door and to the right, just past the Airporter. If you have missed the bus, then you take the Airporter     to the Park and Ride and catch the bus from there. Taxis will be reluctant to take you to the Park and Ride (see Taxi Scams    ).

For the bus to Victoria airport from downtown, reverse the above routing starting with the #70-73.

On the 83 bus, bike rack use is limited to daylight hours only. On regular buses, bike rack use is available anytime.
