PMI Palma de Mallorca Airport Info & Guide

Palma de Mallorca Airport

Where is Palma de Mallorca Airport?

Palma de Mallorca is a modern city of chic shops and hotels, yet, still retains its character in the Old Town: narrow streets, old architecture and a restored cathedral.

The name Palma goes back to the Roman settlement here, although the area was actually settled during the Bronze Age, as evidenced by the talaiots (Bronze Age megaliths) found nearby.

Palma de Mallorca Airport (IATA: PMI, ICAO: LEPA), known to the locals as Son Sant Joan Airport, and commonly referred to as Majorca Airport, is located by the village of Can Pastilla, just east of Palma, on the island of Mallorca (Majorca), in the Balearic Islands, Spain (the archipelago is in the Mediterranean Sea, off Spain's east coast).

Palma is the largest of three commercial airports in the Balearic Islands. The others are Ibiza Airport (IBZ) and Menorca Airport (MAH).

Palma Airport is the third largest airport in Spain, after Madrid's Barajas Airport and Barcelona Airport. During the summer months PMI is one of the busiest airports in Europe. In 2011, Palma de Mallorca Airport served 22,726,707 passengers.

PMI airport is the main base for Air Europa and a focus airport for Air Berlin. Other airlines serving PMI include: Air Europa, British Airways, Condor, EasyJet, Germanwings, Iberia, Lufthansa, Monarch, Ryanair, Thomas Cook, Thomson, TUIFly, Vueling and Wizz Air.
