GPS Galapagos Airport Info & Guide

Where is Galapagos Airport?

Galapagos Airport (IATA: GPS, ICAO: SEGS), officially Galapagos Seymour Airport, also referred to as Baltra Airport or Galapagos Islands Airport, is located on the island of Baltra, one of the Galápagos Islands, in Ecuador. Situated at just 63 metres (207 feet) above mean sea level. This Ecuador airport has just one runway.

The Galapagos Island airport has became famous as the world’s first “green” airport. While the new terminal is getting press in 2015, GPS first claimed the monikor in December 2012. As the world’s first ecological airport, GPS earned a gold certificate from the USA's Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Built of 80% recycled materials, primarily used steel tubes from oil drilling operations in the Amazon, the new terminal uses wind and solar energy, has its own desalination plant.

Airlines that fly to Galapagos Airport include Avianca Ecuador, LAN Ecuador and TAME.

Cities with flights to Galapagos Airport include Guayaquil, San Cristóbal and Quito.

Your best bet for a Galapagos Airport transfer is a bus - there are two types: one takes cruise passengers, and the other takes passengers to the Itabaca channel between the island of Balta and the island of Santa Cruz (and the town of Puerto Ayora).

Or, to truly arrive stress free, treat yourself to a private Galapagos Airport transfer from IHateTaxis.

Tip: upon arrival, before you get your luggage, you will first pass through the Galapagos national park queue, and pay your USD 100 park entrance fee.
