Puerto Vallarta Cruise

Where is Port of Puerto Vallarta Cruise Terminal? Once a sleepy fishing village, Puerto Vallarta was unkown outside Mexico until the filming of the "Night of the Iguana" in 1963, and the affair between Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor had reporters scurrying and the world watching. Today Puerto Vallarta is a popular balneario (seaside resort) and a popular stop for cruise ships on the Pacific Ocean.

The highlight here is Bahía de Banderas (Banderas Bay), one of the largest and deepest anywhere, and is a popular playground for watersports, with great snorkelling, diving, sailing. paradise for snorkelers and scubadivers, sailors and sunseekers.

Puerto Vallarta's busy but charming old town (Zona Romantica), is fun for a visit. The little streets reveal delightful shops and little restaurants. There is a great seaside boardwalk (the Malecon) with interesting public art and plenty of photo opps. The town itself inn't wheelchair friendly, but the boardwalk is.

The Puerto Vallarta Cruise Ship Terminal is part of the Marina Vallarta Maritime Terminal, and is located about 4.8 kilometres (3 miles) north of Puerto Vallarta's downtown. Limited capacity at the Puerto Vallarta port means only some ships can actually dock here; others must tender into port (meaning you would have to take a little boattake time consuming little boats). If your cruise begins or ends here, you will fly through Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR).

Taxi and bus services meet all sailings at the Puerto Vallarta Cruise Ship Terminal, and car rentals are available. Details are provided in this guide.
