Budapest Airport Train Recommendations

IHateTaxis.com recommends the Budapest Airport train service.

The Train + 200E Bus COMBO is a relatively easy and reasonable way to get to/from Budapest Airport, if you don't mind making the connection (you will need to carry your bags a short distance).

  • Single ticket, purchased before boarding: HUF 320
  • Single ticket, purchased onboard: HUF 400
  • Budapest 24 hour travel card: HUF 1550

While there is no direct Budapest Airport train to Terminal 2, the Train + 200E Bus COMBO is almost as easy.

The route below operates via the now-closed Terminal 1 (the references to Terminal 1 are intentional!).

FROM THE AIRPORT

Via KÅ‘bánya-Kispest Metro Station:

  • Go to the bus stop halfway between Terminals 2A or 2B,  on the Arrivals level
  • Take the 200E Bus to the KÅ‘bánya-Kispest Metro Station
  • Take the Metro to your final destination (Blue Line)
  • The best place to get off is Deák tér Station (15-20 minutes): all 3 Metro lines meet here, also a tram/bus interchange

Via Ferihegy Railway Station:

  • Go to the bus stop halfway between Terminals 2A or 2B,  on the Arrivals level
  • Take the 200E Bus to Terminal 1
  • A short 200 metre pedestrian path goes from Terminal 1 to the Ferihegy Railway Station - walk along this path
  • Take the Ferihegy Train to the Budapest Nyugati Railway Station (25 minutes)

TO THE AIRPORT

Via KÅ‘bánya-Kispest Metro Station:

  • Take the Metro to KÅ‘bánya-Kispest Metro Station, the last stop on the M3 (Blue Line)
  • Follow the signs to the bus stop
  • Take the 200E Bus to Terminal 2A or 2B

Via Ferihegy Railway Station:

  • Start at the Budapest Nyugati Railway Station
  • Take the Ferihegy Train to Ferihegy Railway Station
  • The two platforms of the Ferihegy Railway Station are connected via a pedestrian footbridge (equipped with lifts above the clearway) - walk over this footbridge
  • A short 200 metre pedestrian path goes from the Ferihegy Railway Station to Terminal 1 - walk along this path
  • Wait at the designated bus stop at Terminal 1
  • Take the 200E Bus to Terminal 2A or 2B

Notes:

  • The 200E Bus stops at both Ferihegy Railway Station and KÅ‘bánya-Kispest Metro Station
  • 200E Route and Terminals Map     (a rather helpful visual!)
  • Buses run every 8-12 minutes in the daytime, and every 15-20 minutes in the evening
  • Bus 200E runs between 04:00 to 23:00
  • For late night service, please see the Buses and Coaches page

Tip: if you make your connection at Ferihegy, and have time, try to see if you are able to spot any of Terminal 1's historic and restored modernism architecture.
