BLL Billund Airport Info & Guide

Billund Airport

Where is Billund Airport?

Billund Airport (IATA: BLL, ICAO: EKBI) located 3 kilometres (2 miles) northeast of Billund, in Jutland, Denmark, and is known as the home of LEGO. Billund Airport serves as one of Denmark's busiest air cargo centres, as well as a charter airline destination, although some regular airlines also offer flights there.

The proximity of BLL Airport to the Legoland theme park in Billund arguably makes it easier for the airport to attract passengers, and to lure more airlines into operating to the airport. While Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is by far Denmark's busiest, Billund Airport is the country's second busiest, with 2,710,516 served in 2011.

In October 2012, Billund Airport became the first airport in the world to allow passengers to print their own baggage tags and boarding cards at home before they come to the gateway.

Other Items of Interest at Billund Airport

Services at Billund Airport include:

  • Print-at-home boarding passes and luggage tags (the world's first!)
  • Business services (fax, photocopying, conference room)
  • King Amlet Lounge (fee)

Rumour has it that Billund Airport does not charge extra for excess baggage if its Lego, however we can not confirm this.
