Chiang Mai Airport Taxi

Chiang Mai Airport taxi photo

Official Chiang Mai Airport taxi service is available outside the terminal, but the fare may be paid for, in advance, at the taxi counter in the Arrivals hall.

A taxi from Chiang Mai Airport into town will take about 10-15 minutes.

Arrive or depart stress-free at the Chiang Mai Airport by pre-booking your private Chiang Mai Airport transfer.
See our Chiang Mai Airport private transfer options page for more information and pricing.

Unofficial Chiang Mai Airport Taxi Service or Hire Points

If you walk outside the Chiang Mai Airport terminal to the main road, you can catch either a tuktuk or a shared taxi (Songthaew -- a pickup truck with benches in the back) to town for about half the official price.

IHateTaxis.com recommends the unofficial Chiang Mai Airport taxi service.

For a little walking you can save about half the cost of getting to town.

Pirate Chiang Mai Airport Taxi Serivce

Expect to be approached by touts as you exit the Chiang Mai Airport. Their job is to ensure that you get ripped off with a fixed-fare taxi to your destination. Go and find your own taxi and negotiate directly with the driver if they refuse to use the meter. Or walk back into the terminal and purchase a ticket for an official taxi.

IHateTaxis.com does not recommend the pirate Chiang Mai Airport taxi service.

You will be ripped off.
