Where did the Texas Ranger go? Since 1961, the iconic statue Texas Ranger of 1960 – also known as “One Riot, One Ranger” – has stood guard in the Dallas Love Field Terminal Lobby, surveying the comings and goings of passengers. This notorious ranger temporarily left his post, while progress of the Love Field Modernization Program continues, and reported to his new station at the nearby Frontiers of Flight Museum. The nearly 12-foot tall, bronze Texan is expected to return in 2013.

Lyndon Baines Johnson, the 36th President of the United States, was sworn in at Dallas Love Field Airport, following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The event took place while LBJ was onboard Air Force One, on the tarmac. Now, 50 years later, JFK historian Farris Rookstool has pinpointed the exact spot (it's by where Southwest jets taxi to/from gates). In 2014, you can try to spot a new plaque from your plane (its marked by an orange square for now), but the closest the public will be able to get is a terminal window. No plans yet for a duplicate marker inside, yet.
