DAM Damascus Airport Info & Guide

Damascus International Airport

Where is Damascus Airport? Damascus International Airport (Arabic, مطار دمشق الدولي) is a public airport located in Damascus, the capital of Syria. Officially opened in the mid 1970s, DAM is Syria's busiest international airport. The airport is experiencing significant annual passenger growth rates. In 2004, an estimated 3.2 million passengers used the airport. It is currently undergoing much-needed renovations. A new state-of-the-art terminal is expected to be constructed in the near future.

Other Items of Interest at Damascus Airport

It is nearly impossible to change traveller cheques in Syria, so do not rely on them but bring cash or credit cards instead. The Commercial Bank of Syria may be able to exchange them but do not count on it.

ATMs have sprotted up across the country but many of them are not connected to international networks and thus your card may not work. Bank Audi is apparently the best to try if you have a US issued card.
