Marigot Driving Information

Driving is on the left side of the road.

All Marigot Airport rental cars are manual transmission.

Your local drivers' licence is required.

An International Drivers' Permit (or IDP) may be required, especially if your local drivers' licence is in a language other than the local language (you may inquire when you pick up your car).

Marigot Driving Stress Level: 9/10

We give driving in Dominica a 9/10. The roads are poor in locations and many "two lane roads" are narrower that a one lane road with a cliff off one side (and no protective barriers). Add to that the manual transmission and driving on the left (for those that regularly drive on the right) and it creates an eventful experience.

But if you want to see the island at your own pace, the trade-off for freedom versus a taxi hire for the day might be worth considering despite the stress level given here.
