Jackson Evers International Airport

Mississippi's state capital, Jackson, is located south of the Yazoo River, considered to be the Mississippi Delta's southern border. Jackson city is named after Andrew Jackson, who later became the 7th president of the United States.


Jackson-Evers International Airport (IATA: JAN, ICAO: KJAN, FAA LID: JAN), officially Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport, Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers Airport or  Jackson-Medgar Evers Airport, formerly Jackson Municipal Airport, islocated in Pearl, Rankin County, just across the Pearl River, 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) east of downtown Jackson, Mississippi, United States. The airport is shared with the military. It is officially named after Medgar Evers, the former Mississippi Field Secretary for the NAACP.
