JUB Juba Airport Info & Guide

Juba Airport

Where is Juba Airport?

Juba is South Sedan's largest city, and is situated on the White Nile. Once a transportation hub, much of the region's infrastructure was destroyed during the civil war. Rebuilding has begun, but it is a slow process.

While Juba is currently the capital city of South Sudan, it has been announced that the capital will move to Ramciel, 250 kilometres (155 miles) away from Juba, nearer to the border with north Sudan.

Juba Airport (IATA: JUB, ICAO: HSSJ) is located northeast of Juba city centre, in Central Equatoria state, South Sedan. JBA is shared with the military. Since 2011, Juba Airport has been undergoing improvements.

JUB is one of two international airports in South Sudan, the other being Malakal International Airport (MAK).

Juba Airport handles both international and domestic flights, and is used extensively by the United Nations for relief flights.

Airlines that operate flights to Juba Airport include Air Uganda, Delta Connection, Eagle Air, East African Safari Air, Egyptair, Ethiopian Airlines, Feeder Airlines, Fly540, Kenya Airways, Marsland Aviation, Nasair, Royal Daisy Airlines, Southern Star Airlines and Sudan Airways.

Destinations served include Addis Ababa, Asmara, Cairo, Entebbe, Khartoum, Malakal, Nairobi, Rumbek, among others.

Your best bet for a Juba Airport transfer is a taxi. Details on all options, while limited, are included in this guide.

There is no baggage carousel and documentation is by hand. However a much more modern-looking extension is rapidly going up to cater for the steadily growing volume of traffic using the Juba Airport.
