Kansas City International Airport

Where is Kansas City Airport?

Kansas City, Missouri, often referred to by its initials, K.C., is the main city of a major metropolitan area spanning the Missouri-Kansas border. It is situated opposite the identically named Kansas City, Kansas. Locals refer to the two halves of essentially city as KCMO (Kansas City, Missouri) and KCK (Kansas City, Kansas).

The location of many battles during the Civil War, today the city is well known for its contributions to jazz and blues music, its famous Kansas City-style barbecue, and it's many fountains.

Kansas City International Airport (IATA: MCI, ICAO: KMCI, FAA LID: MCI), previously Mid-Continent International Airport, or Mid-Continent Airport, generally referred to as Kansas City Airport, is located 24 kilometres (15 miles) northwest of downtown Kansas City, in Platte County, Missouri, United States. The airport is commonly referred to as KCI Airport - including by the airport itself - but this is not an official airport code (we use the term in this guide, as it is so prevalent locally).

In 2011, Kansas City Airport served 10,148,524 passengers.

The city's other airport, Kansas City Downtown Airport (MKC), handles private flights.

Airlines that fly to Kansas City Airport include Air Canada Express, AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, Frontier Airlines, SeaPort Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, United Express and US Airways.

Cities with flights to KCI Airport include Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Cancún, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, Puerto Vallarta, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, San José del Cabo, Seattle, Toronto and Washington DC.
