A seemingly honest, smart looking taxi driver may approach you as you head to the taxi ranks, ask you if you need a taxi, and points to his taxi, complete with signage and light. The "friendly" driver will distract you on your slow ride into town, hoping you will be unaware of the meter. You will arrive at your destination (or almost: these cabs will drop you a distance from your hotel) only to find the meter showing USD 60, about double the going rate.
