Where is Mysore Airport? Mysore is known for its palaces, as is fitting this once capital of the Kingdom of Mysore. The kingdom was ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty, who were great patrons of art and culture.
Today, Mysore is known as the cultural capital of Karnataka, and tourism is a major industry. Festivals are popular here, especially during the Dasara festival, when tourists flock to the city.
Mysore Airport (IATA: MYQ, ICAO: VOMY), also called Mandakalli Airport, serves the city of Mysore, the second-largest city in the state of Karnataka, India.
Defunct since the 1980s, Mysore Airport reopened in 2010, and for just over a year, Kingfisher Airlines operated daily flights, before pulling out in November 2011. The newly upgraded airport then lay unused.
Mysore Airport recently reopened and, on January 14, 2013, SpiceJet began operating flights to Bangalore. Additional expansion is underway.
