Things To Do in Seattle & Seattle Tacoma Airport Layover Ideas

Seattle things to do

Things to do in Seattle if you have a Seattle Tacoma Airport Layover or Extended Seattle Tacoma Airport Stopover

If you have an extended layover at the Seattle Tacoma Airport or staying in town, why not consider getting out with some fun activities? We list a few here and there are many more on Seattle.LayoverIdeas.com.

Open tours in a new tab? (Good for comparing tour options)

If you are stuck at the airport on a Seattle layover, the airport offers a lot to do. From shopping and dining to dozens of services, there is plenty to do to stay busy. Internet phones are also available throughout the airport. There are no luggage lockers at the Sea-Tac airport, however, Ken’s Baggage Storage and Rentals offers luggage storage. It is located on the Baggage Claim Level between Carousels 12 and 13. There are also “Send It Home” kiosks where you can ship any luggage you either don’t want to store or carry on.

Pike Place Market

is an outdoor market along the water that is a must-see for anyone spending time in Seattle. Best known for the fisherman who quite impressively throw fish to each other, there are also cute gift shops, fruits and nuts stands, and like anywhere else in Seattle, lots of coffee.

Woodland Park Zoo

Just minutes north of downtown Seattle, you can find award-winning Woodland Park Zoo, a 92-acre zoological garden home to over 1,000 animals and 300 species from around the world. For kids there’s an indoor play room called the Zoomazium, and there’s also a new Humboldt penguin exhibit.

Snoqualmie Falls

If you have a long layover, you can venture the 25 miles outside of Seattle to see the spectacular Snoqualmie Falls. At 268 feet tall, the waterfall is a major source of hydroelectric energy for the area. Check out the Salish Lodge for a snack at the top of Snoqualmie Falls, and if you have time, take a hike around the area.

Pacific Science Center

The Pacific Science Center has something for everyone. Here at this educational non-profit foundation there is a Volcano Watch exhibit, a Starlab Planetarium with many terrific shows, and an IMAX theater.

Bon Vivant Wine Tours

If you like to drink (and really who doesn’t) the Bon Vivant Wine Tours take you on a tour of Washington States wineries and vineyards. Tours also can include cuisine. Check out the site for times and locations that interest you. But make sure you don’t drink too much that you miss your connecting flight!

As always, make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to SEA Seattle Tacoma International Airport in time for your connecting flight and enjoy your transit city rather than whiling away the time leaning up against your backpack in the departures lounge.
