Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport Walking

Even though the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport terminal is on an island, it is possible to walk to catch your flight via the new passenger tunnel, opened in July 2015.

From the mainland pavilion staging area to where it emerges in the island atrium, the 853 foot tunnel takes about 6 minutes. There are 4 moving walkways and one of Canada's longest escalator systems.

The passenger tunnel is quick and easy!

You can easily bike to the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

One of Toronto's 80 BIXI stations is located at the top of Eireann Quay (adjacent to the Passenger Ferry Terminal), so you’re a quick peddle away from the airport’s doorstep. BIXI is Toronto’s public bike system that's accessible to everyone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You can also hop on your own bike and lock it up on the island or the mainland adjacent to the ferry terminal.

If you choose not to use the new passenger tunnel, you can take the free ferry between the airport terminal (on the island) and the staging area (on the mainland). The ferry ride is one of the shortest in the world, taking just 90 seconds.

The Passenger Ferry Terminal, also called the Bathurst Street Terminal, is located at the foot of Bathurst Street (at the foot of Eireann Quay), and is easily accessible by car, public transit, bike and foot.

Ferries run approximately every 15 minutes. The first ferry to the airport leaves the ferry terminal at 05:15 and the last ferry from the airport to the mainland departs at about 00:05. You can walk on the ferry as a foot passenger, or you can drive on (you stay in your car on the Billy Bishop Airport ferry because the trip is so short). Once on the island, the walk between the ferry and the terminal takes about 1 minute.

The ferry is free for pedestrians and CAD 11 for vehicles (return trip).
