St. John's Airport Taxi

St. John's Airport taxi photo

The St. John's Airport is now handled by various taxi companies in the immediate St. John's area and all taxis have to use meter rates when picking up passengers at the YYT St. John's International Airport.

St. John's is one of the few places in the world where you might just have a female driver!

Unofficial St. John's Airport Taxi Service or Hire Points

Several other St. John's taxi companies that serve the St. John's Airport include Co-op, Jiffy Cabs and Newfound Cabs. Although they do not have 'official status', you can call one to pick you up and save a few dollars as they will run the meter to town instead of the fixed rate plus a per passenger rate charged by the 'official' company.

IHateTaxis.com recommends the unofficial St. John's Airport taxi service.

For a few minutes wait for an unofficial taxi you will save your at least CAD 5 to town (more if there are a few of you travelling together).

 St. John's Airport Taxi Scams

There are still some "radical" drivers that are still ripping off passengers. It is important that the passenger note the rate they have been charged, the taxi company, as well as the licence number on the rear passenger doors of that particular cab. Any complaints should be directed to the City of St. John's taxi inspector at City Hall or contact the owners of the applicable taxi stand in question. Make sure you follow up on any complaints with a letter to the company in question as well as to the St. John's taxi inspector. PUT IT IN WRITING and always ask for a receipt for the services provided and ensure that the car number on the front fender matches the car number on the receipt. That way, you can help drag the "non-conformists" off the road and prevent any other problems for other taxi users in the area.
