Duration:
6 hours
From:
USD 118.00
Boomerang shaped Manukan is the second largest Island of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park which has good stretches of beaches on the southern coastline. Manukan is the most beautiful, most visited and most recommended of the 5 islands.
On this Island you can enjoy the sunlight, beautiful breaches, fun beach activities such as beach volleyball, parasailing and more!
You can also enjoy snorkeling. The best site to snorkel is among the corals the darker color of the sea means there's a coral bed below the water. It is advised that you swim away from the boat pier and pillar.
There is a 1500m track that extends throughout the island, eventually reaching the sunrise point. It is an absolutely stunning walk, and a must-do when visiting Manukan. The track can be quite steep at time, but it is fully paved the whole way.
Please note: fishing is not allowed here as it can ruin the balance of the sea ecosystem.

Official Kota Kinabalu Airport Taxi Details

Kota Kinabalu Airport Taxi

Kota Kinabalu Airport taxi services are readily available.

Purchase a pre-paid taxi coupon in the Kota Kinabalu Airport terminal before catching a taxi to town. This coupon system ensures that travellers do not get ripped off for taxi fares and that the correct destination is understood by the driver, but also that a little extra money is made for the airport. Note that surcharges apply for night hours.

During your stay, and as a rule of thumb, short rides in taxis should run about MYR 10, longer trips about MYR 20, and hiring a taxi for a day for sightseeing should be no more than MYR 300. All prices are negotiable and you will need to discuss and agree on a price with the driver using the recommended values, otherwise there is a good chance you will be ripped off.

Arrive or depart stress-free at the Kota Kinabalu Airport by pre-booking your private Kota Kinabalu Airport transfer.
See our Kota Kinabalu Airport private transfer options page for more information and pricing.

Unofficial Kota Kinabalu Airport Taxi Service or Hire Points

If you walk out to the main road where buses and mini-buses wait for passengers, you can pick up a taxi to town for about MYR 5 less than the Kota Kinabalu Airport coupon system.

IHateTaxis.com has a mixed recommendation on the unofficial Kota Kinabalu Airport taxi service.

Although a little more walking is required to reach these taxis, you may negotiate a better price than the official coupon system, but ensure you confirm the price before you get in the taxi so you do not get ripped off.

Kota Kinabalu Airport Taxi Scams

Some cabs will tell you that there are no budget cabs available to try to convince you to take a premium taxi. Occasionally this is true, especially near midnight when the tariff jumps and cabs won't take jobs for half an hour or so before midnight.

While you are largely protected from unscrupulous taxi drivers by the pre-paid taxi ticket system at Kota Kinabalu Airport, here are some Malaysian taxi scams to be aware of while in the city:

 • Driver refuses to take you where you want (tip: don't tell the driver your destination before you get in the car)
 • Driver refuses to turn the meter on and quotes a rate, usually high
 • Driver refuses to make change (expect this, and carry small bills)
