The nearest train station is the Bratislava Central Train Station (Hlavná stanica), with connections to Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Budapest, Warsaw, Belgrade and Kiev.

If you wish to take a train from Bratislava Airport, you will need to take a bus to get the train station. Use bus No 61 (or N61 at night) for a Bratislava Airport train connection: the service will connect you directly to the Central Train Station. See the Bus section for more information.

BTS Bratislava Airport Subway Details

Bratislava has a good tram system, but it does not serve the airport.

For a Bratislava Airport tram connection, take Bus No 61 (or N61 at night) from the Bratislava Airport and:

  • Change at Trnavské mýto: in order to get to the tram stop, use the underpass and the exit marked "Centrum" (city centre), or
  • Wait one more stop and change at Racianské mýto: there is no underpass to contend with here

See the Bus section for more information.

Interesting fact: Bratislava has several holes in the ground from a subway project which was cancelled in it's early stages in 1980 due to lack of funding. In early 2002, the first phase of the 2 line project was given a 'final' go ahead, but it never went ahead. It's the reason you'll find some underpasses (the tram even uses one) and skeleton stations around town.
