Unofficial Edmonton Airport Taxi Service or Hire Points

You will be able to obtain an 'unofficial YEG taxi' from the Edmonton Airport Departures Level 2 by taking the escalator or elevator up from the Arrivals Level. There is no real cost savings by attempting this approach unless you work out a flat rate deal with the taxi driver, but the flat rate will be similar regardless of the taxi company.

 Edmonton Airport Taxi Scams

Minimum Fare Enforcement

A few taxi drivers will not pick up or deliver passengers to and from the Edmonton Airport unless it is substantially outside of the Edmonton Airport vicinity (this is known as 'short tripping'). The EIA prohibits this practice and any Airport Taxi Service whom is found short tripping will face a 30-day suspension.

Tip: Hotels near the Edmonton airport in Leduc offer free shuttle service or reimburse LeducTaxis for transporting passengers the short distance. Leduc Taxis will pick you up if you are near the airport but the minimum fare will be CAD 10.00, so best to book hotels that offer this service for free. See the Hotel Shuttle page.
