YVR Vancouver International Airport (IATA: YVR, ICAO: CYVR), commonly referred to as YVR Airport, is located on Sea Island in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, about 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) from Downtown Vancouver. YVR is one of the few big international airports to have a terminal for scheduled floatplanes. Vancouver Airport is one of eight Canadian Airports that have U.S. border pre-clearance facilities.


In 2011, YVR was the second busiest airport in Canada by aircraft movements (296,942) and passengers (17.0 million), behind Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Vancouver International Airport offers non-stop flights daily to Asia, Europe, Oceania, the United States, and Mexico, and other airports within Canada. Vancouver Airport is an AirCanada hub as well as a focus city for WestJet and a hub for Air Transat. Alaska Airlines also operates out of the Vancouver Airport.


Vancouver Airport has won numerous notable international "best airport" awards. YVR Airport won the Skytrax "Best North American Airport" award in 2010, 2011, and 2012, recognition it first garnered in 2007. The Vancouver Airport also retains the distinction of "Best Canadian Airport" in the regional results.
