Vancouver International Airport Bike

Cycling is a excellent alternative from the Vancouver Airport. Several bike lanes exist from the Vancouver Airport into both Richmond and Vancouver. Richmond is very flat, so cycling is quite easy. Additional routes exist into Vancouver and beyond.

Bikes are also welcome on public buses (maximum 2 per bus) at no additional charge.

Vancouver International Airport Other Transportation

Although it sounds ironic, you can take a plane from the Vancouver Airport! These are little puddle-jumper planes to Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and Whistler available at the South Terminal.

There is a free shuttle that picks up passengers from the YVR arrivals gate twice per hour to the South Terminal (:25 and :55 for the International Arrivals and :30, :00 for the Domestic Arrivals). From the YVR International Terminal, look for the shuttle outside at pillar 2 on the YVR Arrivals level. For the YVR Domestic Terminal, look for pick-up outside doorway "F" at curbside on the Arrivals level. There is a sign at both of these locations that is clearly marked "South Terminal".

Disabled Facilities at the YVR Vancouver Airport

The Vancouver Airport has comprehensive facilities for disabled travellers, catering to people with sight, sound and mobility disabilities. All public areas of the Terminal buildings are wheelchair accessible.

Airline check-in and service counters have a volume controlled amplified handset system to assist people hearing an agent in a noisy environment. Counters are also specially designed with writing surfaces and toe clearances for persons using wheelchairs.

There are TTY phones located in all areas, wayfinding for people with visual impairments or who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The Terminal Buildings are equipped with low mounted courtesy phones connected directly to the Operations Desk where staff can identify the users’ location by the phone unit and therefore give users detailed directions or send a green coat volunteer to assist if required.
